Pursuant to the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania and the Law on Courts and in view of the recommendation of the Judicial Council, President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė signed a decree on 19 April 2017, whereby she appointed Gintaras Kryževičius Justice and President of the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania. Mr. Kryževičius started his term of office on 28 April.

Gintaras Kryževičius has over 30 years of diverse legal experience and spent as many as 27 years working as a judge at courts of all levels: from district, regional courts, the Court of Appeal of Lithuania, the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania to the Supreme Court of Lithuania. Mr. Kryževičius worked as a justice in the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania from 2001 to 2007 (he was Deputy President of this Court in the period of 2001–2006), has been working at the Supreme Court of Lithuania from 2007 till present, and occupied the position of the President of this Court in 2009–2014.

Pursuant to the Constitution, the President of the Republic of Lithuania appoints justices and president of the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania.
