SACL Vice-President Ernestas Spruogis appointed substitute member of the Venice Commission
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, Inga Ruginienė, has appointed Lithuania's representatives to the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission). Two distinguished legal experts have been nominated: Artūras Drigotas has been appointed as a full member, while Ernestas Spruogis, Vice-President of the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania (SACL), has been appointed as a substitute member.
Ernestas Spruogis has served as a judge of SACL since 2021 and has held the position of Vice-President of the Court since 2023. His professional experience includes many years of service in the field of administrative justice, combined with an active academic career.
The Venice Commission is the Council of Europe's advisory body on constitutional matters, bringing together independent experts in constitutional law from across its member states. Its opinions and recommendations are widely recognised as an objective and non-political benchmark for assessing legislation and constitutional reforms.
The SACL community congratulates Ernestas Spruogis on this appointment and wishes him every success in his new role.
