SACL visited by Judges-Students from Ukraine
On 11 May 2023, the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania (SACL) hosted a meeting between SACL judges and students of Mykolas Romeris University, who are studying under the Mediation LL.M study program.
Most of the students came from Ukraine – 9 of which are experienced judges working at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Administrative Court, while others work as judges at district courts or are practicing lawyers.
The Vice-President of the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania Ernestas Spruogis, Judges Veslava Ruskan and Artūras Drigotas and the Advisor to the President of the Court Agnė Veršelytė presented the system of the administrative courts of the Republic of Lithuania, the most important directions of the SACL activities, the relevant statistics of the court's activity, the peculiarities of its work, and the principles of case-law formation.
During the discussion, the guests from Ukraine presented the main features of the system of administrative courts of Ukraine and shared essential statistical information on the cases heard in the courts they represent.
The participants also discussed the use of mediation in administrative justice. Judges Veslava Ruskan and Artūras Drigotas informed the students about the institute of judicial mediation in administrative cases in Lithuania, the problems of its application in practice in SACL and successful examples of mediation.
